Phoenix Police end bean bag use after 'inconsistent' injuries

Several Valley cities still using non-lethal rounds

Phoenix police announced this week it would permanently discontinue the use of stun bag shotguns after suspending the bean bag munitions program in mid-October.

On Wednesday, Phoenix police announced it planned to “focus on expanding other less lethal options” instead of using bean bag rounds, said Donna Rossi, a Phoenix Police spokeswoman.

Independent Newsmedia requested records from both Phoenix and Goodyear police departments to see if any incidents prompted officials to stop the use of the specific rounds.
