OPINION — To the loving parents of  dogs: Please remember to exercise wisdom when walking your dogs on pavement. 

Remember that the intense sun and dry climate in Arizona make surfaces hotter than the air. For instance, 95 degrees Fahrenheit air can create dangerous, 145-degree ground temperatures, which is hot enough to cause second-degree burns in under 60 seconds.

If the temperature goes even higher, Arizona metro area asphalt or concrete surfaces can reach temperatures hot enough to cause third-degree burns. Here are some tips:
