Small plane crashes onto Phoenix street during approach to Deer Valley Airport
Posted
A small plane crashed on a Phoenix street Wednesday morning, but authorities said nobody was injured.
The Federal Aviation Administration said a Piper PA-34 was on final approach to Deer Valley Airport when it declared “MAYDAY” and landed near 23rd Avenue and Deer Valley Road.
A Phoenix Fire Department statement said the two-engine plane “landed” but the plane’s fuselage is on the pavement and one wing appears to be broken off and several nearby parked cars were heavily damaged.
The pilot and a passenger were the the only occupants on the plane, with both declining medical treatment, Fire Capt. Nicole Minnick said in a statement. However, one of the occupants later requested transport to the hospital for evaluation.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.
