Skydiver falls 20-40 feet after canopy collapses in West Valley

A man was seriously injured Sunday morning in a skydiving accident in the West Valley, police said.
About 9:10 a.m. Nov. 17, crews from the Buckeye Fire Medical Rescue Department and Arizona Fire and Medical Authority were called to the Buckeye Municipal Airport near Palo Verde and Lower Buckeye roads for a skydiving accident.
They found the man whose canopy reportedly collapsed somewhere between 20-40 feet above the ground “leading to a rapid, uncontrolled landing,” police stated in a release.

He was taken to a hospital as a level 1 trauma patient, according to the release.
