Skinner will run for sheriff in Maricopa County primary election

Maricopa County Sheriff Russ Skinner is running for the office in the Maricopa County primary election.

Russ Skinner is no stranger to Maricopa County.

Skinner, 55, has been a Maricopa County resident for 50 years and tackled roles such as sergeant, lieutenant and chief deputy with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office since 1989.

Last month, Skinner was named sheriff of Maricopa County after then-Sheriff Paul Penzone’s last day in office on Jan. 12, according to a press release.
