Skin cancer survivor stresses importance of getting checked

When it comes to living in a high-sun state like Arizona, a simple skin check can mean the difference between life and death from serious skin cancers such as melanoma, according to local experts.

Dr. Cynthia Price of Phoenix-based Skin Science said bout 50% of pre-existing moles can turn into melanoma. Warning signs include moles with notched borders with colors such as black, pink and red.

“(People) don’t know (moles) can actually change (size and shape),” Price said.
