Skin cancer a greater risk in Arizona

Errol Turner thought he was going to have an uneventful trip when he went to Colorado to visit his aunt and uncle over summer vacation.

A few weeks later, Turner, then 15, landed himself on an operating table after his aunt noticed a couple of moles on his back that turned out to be malignant melanoma — a deadly skin cancer that could have spread aggressively.

His aunt told the boy to be sure to tell his father about the moles and get seen by a doctor after he returned home to Arizona.
