Sheriff's deputies are investigating after a motorcyclist died from injuries sustained in a collision south of Surprise.

According to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, District III deputies responded to a motorcycle collision involving three other vehicles on Litchfield Road, between Olive and Peoria avenues, around 8:30 p.m. Sunday.

The motorcyclist was transported to a hospital and was pronounced dead. No other involved parties reported injuries at the scene.

Susan Morski, of Washington, told the Daily News-Sun her brother John William Neal was the motorcyclist who died. Records indicate he was a resident of Surprise. The Maricopa County Office of the Medical Examiner lists Mr. Neal in its database.

Ms. Morski, her mother, partner and grandson are hoping to travel to Arizona for Mr. Neal's celebration of life next week.

Vehicle Crimes Detectives assumed the investigation, which is ongoing.

UPDATE: On Thursday, May 30, the medical examiner office released Mr. Neal's autopsy report, which stated he had a BAC of 0.207, more than two times the legal limit in Arizona.

The document states Mr. Neal was not wearing a helmet and struck the back of an SUV at a rate of 45 to 50 mph.
