Sisso trees still coming down in Arcadia at Silverleaf

Legal battle over tree removal continues

The legal battle of the Sissoo trees in the upscale Arcadia at Silverleaf neighborhood appears to have entered a new theater of combat - seemingly ending one side’s hopes of ending the engagement soon.

Resident Tom LaPorte, who is suing the homeowner’s association over the removal of the 670 Sissoo trees planted by the developer when the community was first built, had hoped hostilities would come to a quick close.

That’s because Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Randall Warner affirmed on Sept. 12 the homeowners’ association needed a majority vote of all residents in the neighborhood to increase monthly fees more than 20% to pay for the tree removal, which it started doing in fall 2021.
