Siphon Fire near Apache Junction 65% contained, according to Saturday update

There’s been no increase in size for the Siphon Fire in the Superstition Wilderness northeast of Apache Junction — it remains 15,527 acres with 65% containment as the interior of the fire burns itself out, the U.S. Forest Service said Saturday.

“Crews continue to check for hot spots along the fire’s perimeter as they work toward increasing containment. Dry conditions along with mostly clear skies and below-normal temperatures will prevail throughout the period. One engine is assigned to the fire,” it states on the U.S. Forest Service — Tonto National Forest Facebook page @TontoNationalForest.

Mesa Ranger District has issued a revised Siphon Fire post fire recovery and flash flood public safety closure to provide for public health and safety due to increased flash flood potential, and to allow for natural resource protection and burn area recovery, within the uncontrolled Siphon Fire on the Tonto National Forest.
