Shopping local in Apache Junction helps economy, encourages entrepreneurs

While the Apache Junction Area Chamber of Commerce ramps up its annual summer shop-local campaign offering discounts designed to help area businesses during the slower summer months, an adjacent city’s mayor and a restaurant owner are reminding residents that supporting small businesses by shopping locally helps the economy and encourages budding entrepreneurs.

Many Apache Junction businesses are owned or run by city residents and employ city residents, Apache Junction Mayor Chip Wilson said.

“This is a great way to show support for our local businesses and the local business community to include our fellow neighbor,” he said. “I fully support the shop local drive and encourage everyone to obtain a shop-local card and take advantage of the discounts the local business are offering.”
