Northbound lanes of Loop 303 reopen after shooting in Goodyear

Posted

A four-mile stretch of Loop 303 in the West Valley has reopened after a shooting left a driver with non-life threatening injuries.

Around 4 p.m. Thursday, the Arizona Department of Public Safety received a report that a driver of a Chevrolet Camaro was shot by an occupant in a pickup truck along northbound Loop 303, just north of I-10.

DPS said the sole male occupant of the Camaro was shot in the leg and was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  Goodyear police said he was released and is expected to fully recover

The suspect vehicle has not been located and the cause of the shooting is under investigation. The vehicle was described as a work type white Ford F-150 pick-up truck with a roof rack.

The Arizona Department of Transportation initially said the far left-lane was closed but later tweeted that the northbound lanes of Loop 303 are closed between Van Buren Street and Camelback Road.

The lanes reopened around 8 p.m. Thursday, according to ADOT.
