Shirley Mae Hinshaw

Shirley, 87, of Sun City, Arizona, passed away September 13, 2025, from complications of peripheral artery disease. She was born April 28, 1938, in Ripon, Wisconsin, to Harry and Erna Wyrzinske.
A dedicated nurse, she worked at Mercy Hospital in Oshkosh, WI, Winnebago County Psychiatric Hospital, and 28 years at Benevilla in Sun City, AZ, retiring in 2024. She loved her family, the Green Bay Packers, traveling to Hawaii and Fiji, bowling, playing golf, reading, and crafts.
She is survived by her sister, Barbara Benthein; sons, Duane Nelson Jr. (Kelly) and Todd Nelson (Debra); grandchildren; Alyssa Carabio (Michael), Cameron Nelson (Kaitlyn), Nicole Haney (Nicholas), Christian Nelson, Caleb Nelson, Colin Nelson, and Colton Nelson; and great-grandchildren; Amelia Haney, Micah Carabio, and Addison Nelson. She was married to Duane Nelson, and later, Keith Hinshaw, both who preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by her sister Jeanette Williams and her infant daughter, Teri.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 11, at 1:00 p.m. at The Church at Cactus, 8133 W. Cactus Rd, Peoria, AZ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Shirley’s name to Benevilla (16752 Greasewood St., Surprise, AZ 85378).
