Shah unofficially wins Congressional District 1 primary

Amish Shah unofficially has won the Congressional District 1 Democratic primary with only 23.93% of the vote and is set to face incumbent David Schweikert in the Nov. 4 general election.

After arizona.vote was updated Wednesday afternoon to show 100% of Arizona precincts reporting, Shah had nosed out runner-up Andrei Cherny and four other Democrats by garnering 15,450 of the 64,555 votes in the primary.

Meanwhile Schweikert, the longtime Congressman and the CD1 incumbent, coasted to another Republican nomination with almost 63% of the 55,830 votes in that primary.
