Isaac Yates is more than, arguably, the best player on the Shadow Ridge football team.
The senior wide receiver/safety can diagnose what is happening during a game like a coach. Shadow Ridge coach Sean Hegarty said Yates sees things on the field, knows what routes can beat what coverages and discusses what will work with coaches on both sides of the ball.
In his senior year, Hegarty said, Yates has become more of a student of the game. Through five games, Yates leads the Stallions with 17 catches for 363 yards and four touchdowns, as well as two interceptions to lead the defense.
