It was not the same team that won two straight 6A state softball titles, but to knock Xavier Prep out of the playoffs Shadow Ridge had to throw haymakers all afternoon.
The most unexpected power surge came from sophomore Delaney Salasek, who hit two-run homers in the second and fifth innings. She's only played 12 games for the Stallions after transferring in from Willow Canyon, and these are the first two homers of her career.
Though Xavier entered the postseason seeded #16 the Gators still have a powerful lineup, and battered #9 Shadow Ridge Tuesday for four runs in the top of the fourth inning to tie the game at 6, then five more in the top of the sixth to tie it at 11.
