Shade, shelter improvements coming to Tempe bus stops

Tempe City Council approves new improvements to 30 of its bus stops in order to provide shade and shelter to public transit users as Arizona’s summer heat and blazing sun return.

At a May 18 council meeting, the mayor and council approved the contract between the city and Caliente Construction, officially awarding the project to the company for the proposed improvements.

As explained in a city staff report, the city awarded over $490,000 to Caliente for them to complete the project. The contingency amount for the project is $50,000.
