U.S. Sen. Kyrsten Sinema introduced a bill Wednesday to fund and facilitate the construction of Rio Reimagined, a sprawling 55-mile revitalization of the Salt River.
The project would stretch across the western Valley and bring a revitalized lake or recreational waterfront to Phoenix, six West Valley cities and two native American Reservations. The plan is still in its infancy, and no lands or money have been earmarked to push the project forward.
Sinema, the independent senator from Arizona, hopes to change that and expedite the reimagined vision set forth by the late Arizona Senator John McCain.
