Semiconductor company relocating to Scottsdale

ASM, a Netherlands-based company that makes machines that make semiconductor chips, took another step toward moving its North American headquarters to Scottsdale.

The Scottsdale City Council voted unanimously during its Sept. 19 meeting to approve a development agreement to put infrastructure in place to support the new facility, which will be located on the northwest corner of Mayo Boulevard and Miller Road immediately south of the Loop 101.

The city will reimburse ASM up to $6.4 million for the improvements and the company will cover the rest of the costs. Scottsdale Economic Development Director Teri Killgore said the amount could end up being less though.
