The S'edav Va'aki Museum will be closed to the public temporarily for renovations beginning Monday, July 15, and remain closed through September for a lobby renovation.
After 50 years, the entrance lobby will get a new floor and a custom-made front desk.
In addition, “the space will become an inviting introduction to the O'Odham people, the descendants of the original inhabitants of the site and our neighbors,” city officials stated in a release.
In addition, after 20 years, the “Dig It" gallery will be transformed into a changing exhibit space, according to the release.
Depending on renovation work, museum officials said they anticipate opening the outside trail only for visitors in early August. Visitors will be able to cool down and have access to restrooms in the Community Room area, they said.
