The Sun City West PRIDES are ready to complete phase two, which is the final phase of the R.H. Johnson Boulevard renovation project.
Work is in progress, including the planting of approximately 400 new plants and will be completed over three Saturdays in March. Kathy Estes with Sun City West PRIDES said the plants dug in last fall are starting to grow and show some color. However, several of the saguaros in the community were victims of either vehicle accidents or natural causes.
The organization is working this early spring to keep medians and roadways clean and weed free. Ms. Estes said the invasive Stinknet or Globe Chamomile is pervasive throughout the community and spreading throughout southern Arizona. She said it is easy to remove if pulled out by the roots if small, but should be placed in a plastic bag for disposal so the seeds cannot spread.
