Scottsdale’s property tax rate to remain flat next year

In an election year bump for incumbent candidates, the Scottsdale City Council voted unanimously during its June 9 meeting to not increase property taxes rates next fiscal year.

But some say the move, which will cost the city about $800,000, isn’t going to be the financial windfall for the average Scottsdale resident it initially appears to be.

Budget Director Scott Sellin proposed a 2% increase, which is the maximum the state allows.
