Scottsdale’s Prop 490 on the ballot

On election day, registered voters of Scottsdale will vote on the presidential, mayoral and city council candidates, mayoral candidates, they will also vote on a 0.15% sales tax, known as Prop. 490, to fund maintenance and increase public safety issues at the McDowell Sonoran Preserve and the city’s parks as well as capital projects at WestWorld.

The issue has divided Scottsdale residents.

The issue begins with Proposition 400 in 1995 that enacted a 0.20% sales tax to fund the purchasing of the McDowell Sonoran Preserve. Proposition is a .15% sales tax that would step in where the 1995 tax leaves off after it expires in 2025.
