Scottsdale’s new McDowell Sonoran Conservancy CEO’s priority: raise visibility

Dr. Amanda Hoffman-Handy has spent her entire career in the non-profit sector.

During her almost 20-year career she’s been a zookeeper, curator for a living collection within a science center and an executive director for a children’s museum.

“I find it very meaningful and fulfilling,” Hoffman-Handy said of working with nonprofits. “The sector of nonprofits exists to fill a gap where both government and for-profit sector services don’t necessarily exist, which is why nonprofits exist. And frankly, I really like feeling good at the end of the day knowing that my effort and my time has been well spent and it served the broader community and it served the environment.”
