After a grueling 12-competition season, International School of Arizona’s robotics club made it to the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open Robotics Championship in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
“Building my robot was a challenging but rewarding experience that helped me understand how engineering and problem-solving work in real life,” seventh-grader Isla Luna said. “I learned that building a robot is not just about putting parts together, but also about testing, adjusting and improving your design. One of the most important things I learned was patience, because things did not always work the way I expected on the first try.
“One thing that went well was assembling the robot and eventually getting it to function properly,” she continued. “I felt proud when I saw it move and complete the task it was designed to do. It showed me that my effort and persistence paid off. I also think I did a good job staying focused and continuing even when things became frustrating.”
