Scottsdale’s fiscal belt tightening

Future changes in state laws and funding expected to cost the city

The City of Scottsdale’s coffers are full, but it’s proverbial belt is tightening.

Local sales tax, the city’s largest revenue stream, for fiscal year 2023/24’s first quarter were up about 5% above what was budgeted but that number is still down about 3% from last year’s totals, Scottsdale City Treasurer Sonia Andrews said during the city council’s Oct. 24 meeting.

And things are only getting tighter in the future, Andrews said.
