A Vietnam War veteran who lives at Amber Creek Inn Memory Care Community in Scottsdale took to the skies with other seniors in a restored Boeing Stearman biplane – the same aircraft used to train military aviators in the late 1930s and early 1940s.
Participating veterans were from senior living communities Amber Creek Inn Memory Care in Scottsdale, Solana at The Park Assisted Living in Surprise and Silver Creek Inn Memory Care in Mesa.
Dream Flights, a nonprofit organization for “giving back to those who gave,” provided veterans an opportunity to reminisce about their service about 1,000 feet above ground with an early morning Nov. 6 departure from the private flights at Glendale Municipal Airport.
