Two people have died as a result of injuries sustained in a three-vehicle traffic collision in Scottsdale, police officials say.
Just after 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 27, Scottsdale Police Department officials responded to a three-vehicle fatal collision at Pima and Pinnacle Peak roads.
Multiple people were injured in the collision, police say, including two deaths.

Scottsdale vehicle collision kills 2 people

Two people have died as a result of injuries sustained in a three-vehicle traffic collision in Scottsdale, police officials say.
Just after 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 27, Scottsdale Police Department officials responded to a three-vehicle fatal collision at Pima and Pinnacle Peak roads.
Multiple people were injured in the collision, police say, including two deaths.
The first victim is 48-year-old Roel Vera, who was pronounced dead at the time of the collision.
He was the driver of one of the involved vehicles, police say.
The second victim, Walter Scurei, 87, was a passenger in one of the vehicles, who died on the morning of Monday, Dec. 28, at a local hospital, police say.
Three other people were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, police say.
“At this point, there is no indication that impairment was a factor in the incident,” Scottsdale Police Department Officer Kevin Watts said.
The cause of the collision is currently under investigation, and as a result, there are is no further available information at this time, police say.
