Scottsdale to focus on water in 2023

Development also a high priority for council

The main issue Scottsdale seems to face going into the new year is water — how to conserve it and deal with less of it in the city.

For 2023, Councilwomen Betty Janik, Solange Whitehead and Tammy Caputi discussed council’s goals and plans for water conservation, along with the International Green Construction building codes that were just made mandatory, Scottsdale’s downtown character plan, zoning and development and housing affordability.

In addition, short-term rental registration will go into effect in January. As of Friday, Dec. 15 — three weeks after the registration portal opened — 591 license applications have been submitted and 168 are pending, according to Caputi.
