Scottsdale throws itself a 75th birthday party

The Scottsdale Art School is taking “Sonora” the horse to different events celebrating Scottsdale’s 75th anniversary. The idea is to write a happy memory about Scottsdale on a piece of cloth and then tie it onto Sonora’s chicken wire frame. School Executive Director Trudy Hays says the hope is to have a completed happy horse by the end of the year.

While much fuss is being made right now about America turning 250 years old, Scottsdale is marking its own special occasion this year.

Scottsdale is turning 75 this year!

The community that began in the late 1800s (8,000 years earlier than that if you count indigenous peoples) incorporated June 25, 1951.
