The city of Scottsdale and its Veterans Advisory Commission are hosting a special thank you for Vietnam veterans on Wednesday, March 29 — National Vietnam Veterans Day.

The structured social hour begins at 5:30 p.m. at the 360 Stage on Scottsdale Civic Center, 3939 N. Drinkwater Blvd.. The free event will feature live music, food, and most importantly: a special opportunity for the community to meet Vietnam veterans, thank them, and learn their stories of service and sacrifice.

All are invited as Scottsdale joins a grateful nation in thanking and honoring Vietnam veterans and their families, according to a press release.

An RSVP is requested so there is enough food on hand.

Vietnam veteran lapel pins will be provided to all who served in the armed forces during the Vietnam era, courtesy the United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration. Special pins for those who lost a family member are also available, along with materials everyone can use to express their support for Vietnam veterans.

The United States Congress established the United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War and to thank and honor veterans of the Vietnam War and their families for their service and sacrifice. The city is a proud member of this program. Learn more at vietnamwar50th.com.

The city gives special thanks to the Veterans Heritage Project for their support of this event, the press release stated.
