The Scottsdale Symphonic Orchestra will present its first holiday performance, “Holiday Cheer!” 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, 7380 E. 2nd St., in the Virginia G. Piper Theater.
From Christmas classics to musical tributes to Hanukkah, this festive performance will also feature music in the lobby provided by The King's Carolers and a hot cocoa bar and holiday-themed drinks.
"With this being our very first holiday concert, we wanted to provide an extra-special festive occasion for our audience," said Denise Wilson, board chair for the Scottsdale Symphonic Orchestra. "This is not your typical holiday concert - this truly promises to be a meaningful experience for audience and orchestra alike."
The guest conductor for this performance is Charlotte Ruth Harrison, who is a finalist candidate for the permanent role of music director to be appointed for the 2024-25 season. Harrison hand-selected each piece for this holiday concert.
"The holiday season of light and love approaches and with it comes memories rich with meaning,” stated Harrison. “We are excited to bring these memories back to life with the joyous sounds of sleigh rides, dancing sugar plum fairies, bells ringing, and angels singing. Come help us make some new musical memories as we welcome in the most wonderful time of the year!”
