Scottsdale startup founder talks AI policy with federal lawmakers

Darryl Keeton, founder of Scottsdale-based Sensagrate, recently met with staffers from the White House and the U.S. Department of Commerce to discuss the need for balanced federal AI regulation that promotes startup success.

Keeton — whose company aims to prevent traffic-related accidents by using AI-powered traffic sensors to optimize traffic flow, reduce congestion, and decrease fatalities — emphasized the importance of including small businesses in AI policy discussions, according to a press release.

Keeton’s meetings occurred during an ongoing discussion among lawmakers about regulating AI, as there have been over 1,000 AI-related bills introduced at the state level. The Trump administration is also involved in the conversation, having released an executive order last month in an attempt to discourage states from introducing more bills.
