Scottsdale spends $1.6M in pursuit to remove FEMA floodplain

Scottsdale has agreed to pay $1.6 million to Kimley-Horn Inc. for design services as it prepares to continue drainage improvements along Granite Reef Wash.

On July 10, Scottsdale City Council approved the contract apart of the Granite Reef Watershed Improvement Project, which was a part of the council’s consent agenda.

The purpose of the agreement between the city and Kimley-Horn is for the design of a new storm drain in south Scottsdale, completing drainage improvements from Thomas Road south to McKellips Road. The project starts at Thomas Road within 87th Street, then west to 84th Place after crossing McDowell Road.
