Scottsdale school officials take action against bullying by updating policy

Since the pandemic began, the Scottsdale Unified School District has experienced “an overall decrease” in office discipline referrals, meanwhile district officials are revising its policy on bullying.

From defining various bullying tactics including in-person and cyber attacks, much of the content revisions to the district bullying policy reflect how SUSD takes a stand against bullying by citing its “Three Rs” of recognizing, reaching out and reporting any signs of bullying.

The SUSD Governing Board unanimously approved revising the district’s policy called “JICK Student Violence/Harassment/Intimidation/Bullying,” which will be renamed, “Student Bullying/Harassment/Intimidation.”
