From a student seen vaping on camera while a virtual class was in session to an elementary school student having a vape device on campus, the Scottsdale Unified School District Governing Board’s proposed anti-vaping resolution discussion went up in smoke.
Nearly four hours into the Nov. 17 regular meeting, SUSD Director of Support Services Shannon Cronn finally was able to address and educate the board on vaping concerns within the district.
Some board members, who questioned the validity and necessity of instituting a resolution, suggested adding appropriate language to existing district policies that dealt with substance abuse instead.
