Scottsdale school board hit with open meeting complaints

Several people along with a prominent government watchdog group have filed complaints against the Scottsdale Unified School District governing board with the Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich’s Office regarding alleged issues with open meeting law violations, transparency and more.

In addition to open meeting law concerns, the complaints call in question practices related to the district’s curriculum and the strategic planning committee. Complaints were lodged against the SUSD governing board and the superintendent, Dr. Scott A. Menzel on separate dockets.

District officials defended their actions as both in accordance with state law and in a spirit of being transparent with parents and other stakeholders.
