Scottsdale school board considers policy changes

Board members suggest changes

It’s time to streamline the process that students with special needs get services, according to Scottsdale Unified School District Governing Board Vice President Carine Werner.

Werner requested at the board’s Feb. 7 meeting an audit of how needs are accessed and delivered to students with either an individualized education plan, known as an IEP, or a 504 plan.

An IEP is for students who need specialized instruction while a 504 plan is for students who require more accommodations in the classroom.
