Scottsdale Unified School District approved a $7,000 performance bonus for Superintendent Scott Menzel for his work completed throughout the 2021-22 school year.
The governing board met briefly on June 27 for a special meeting and executive session in order to discuss in-depth the terms of Menzel’s additional pay. As explained in board documents, the board conducted a year-end evaluation of the superintendent, which Menzel was notified of prior to the meeting.
According to state law, the governing board is responsible for ensuring “that the contract for the superintendent is structured in a manner in which up to 20% of the total annual salary included for the superintendent in the contract is classified as performance pay.”
