Saturday morning will mark 20 years since Sept. 11, 2001, when Americans witnessed on TV and firsthand what would change their lives forever.
In Scottsdale, residents recall the pain felt that day, and in the years since.
“After watching the towers fall hundreds of times on the television over several days, I was traumatized and horribly depressed. The country was stunned and paralyzed, but we stood together as one. That’s what I really miss. Our country is being torn apart when we should stand united,” said Emily Austin, a Scottsdale resident and community advocate.
