Scottsdale reestablishes recycling partnership with the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community

Community to take on recyclables following new recycling facility

The city of Scottsdale has formed a new agreement with the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community and its landfill services regarding the handling and processing of recyclable materials.

Through the new agreement approved at the Feb. 8 Scottsdale City Council meeting, the Salt River Commercial Landfill Company, a division of the SRPMIC, will be responsible for processing a portion of Scottsdale’s recyclable waste at its new location.

The Salt River Landfill opened in 1993 and entered into an agreement with Scottsdale in 1994 for the disposal services of non-hazardous waste. In 2001, the community opened its recycling facility at the property and the city made use of it in disposing of recyclables.
