The Scottsdale Railroad Society, a nonprofit dedicated to preserving railroad history, will hold its inaugural Sunset Soiree On the Rails 6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct.9, at McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park, 7301 E. Indian Bend Road.
The fundraising event will feature handcrafted cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and live entertainment with proceeds supporting the society’s new Golden Ticket Program, an initiative designed to expand access to the park for eligible Title I students, according to a press release.
For more than 50 years, the Scottsdale Railroad Society has helped fund, build and preserve the attractions that make McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park a treasured community landmark. Most recently, the Society contributed approximately $2.2 million in custom railroad-themed play equipment for the roundhouse, creating an engaging new experience for children and families across Scottsdale.
The Sunset Soiree builds on that legacy through the Golden Ticket Program where the students will receive a STEAM-focused, passport style booklet that connects to the railroad park’s history, attractions, and exhibits and have the opportunity to ride the park’s train to create an educational and exciting experience for the students.
