At least three employees were exposed to pepper spray when two suspects attempted an armed robbery at a Scottsdale eyewear business, near 7000 N. Scottsdale Road on Monday, June 1st, around 4:40 p.m., according to a press release from the Scottsdale Police Department.
The suspects broke a display case with expensive eyeglass frames, but did not remove any merchandise since employees tried to stop them, according to police.
The suspects then sprayed pepper spray at the employees before fleeing from the business on foot, police said.
The employees were treated by EMS at the scene but refused transport.
Scottsdale Police detectives are still investigating the incident as an “attempted armed robbery” since the suspects used pepper spray against the employees during the robbery attempt.
If anyone has information about this incident, they can call 480-312-TIPS (8477)
