The task force is a collaboration between the Scottsdale Police Department, the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, the Arizona Department of Public Safety, Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, and the Gilbert, Mesa and Tempe police departments.

Task force officers will contact drivers and arrest those who make the disastrous decision to drive impaired, removing them from the roadway before they hurt themselves or others, according to a press release.

“The best choice to make this holiday weekend if consuming alcoholic beverages or using marijuana, is to pre-arrange to have a sober driver, ride share or taxi,” officials said in the press release. “Impaired driving is completely preventable. Please drive sober or find an alternate way home.”
