Silver Alert canceled for 87-year-old man from Scottsdale


Scottsdale police canceled a Silver Alert after finding a missing Scottsdale man.

John Retkowski was located by a citizen at the Bouse Wash rest stop on Interstate 10 less than 40 miles east of Quartzite.  Mr. Retkowski was in good health and he has been reunited with family members.


The Scottsdale Police Department is asking for assistance from the public in locating a missing elderly man.

John Retkowski, 87, suffers from Dementia and Diabetes. He was last seen at 10:15 am Thursday, Jan. 2 near his residence in the area of 84th Street and Vista Drive, according to a police statement.

He is driving a his Tan 2002 Toyota 4Runner with Arizona License Plate 343HBV. Police say Mr. Retkowski is 6-foot-1, 160 pounds, has gray hair and green eyes.

He was last seen wearing a light blue jacket, green collared shirt, blue jeans with white paint spots, and black tennis shoes, according to a police statement. He does not have a cell phone and his vehicle is not equipped with GPS.
