Scottsdale Police identify woman shot in a police station lobby

Scottsdale Police have identified the woman who was shot by a police officer after allegedly brandishing a gun inside a police station April 30.

She is 23-year-old Eva Josefina Garcia, of Goodyear.

Garcia, who had been taken to a local hospital for a gunshot wound, was originally listed in critical condition at the time, but she was released from the hospital May 11 and booked into the Maricopa County Sheriff’s office on charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault on an officer, aggravated assault on an employee of a law enforcement agency, kidnapping - fear of injury, aggravated assault of an innocent citizen and disorderly conduct - recklessly handle, displaying or discharge of a firearm, according to a press release from the Scottsdale Police Department.
