Scottsdale photo radar sees ‘an explosion’ of high-speed citations

Scottsdale police officials say they’re seeing a growing trend across the city, and it’s a dangerous one.

Clocking speeds up to 100 mph — specifically on Scottsdale and Pima roads north of Loop 101 — motorists are speeding through every part of the city, police officials say.

Scottsdale Police Chief Jeff Walther pointed out the trend in the first episode of his new podcast, Talking Shop with Chief Walther. A resident-submitted question asked for stronger traffic enforcement in the Pinnacle Peak Road area, pointing out “a lot of racing” and a fatal collision a few months ago.
