A man described by police as “manipulative and charismatic” is being sought in connection with the killing of a 67-year-old man found dead inside the victim’s Scottsdale home, authorities said.

Detectives are looking for the suspect, Matthew Dieringer, who police stated in a release “has a history of experiencing homelessness, and has been described as manipulative and charismatic, often befriending others to assist him with a place to stay.”

Dieringer is 35 years old, 6-feet-3 inches, 185 pounds with blond hair and blue eyes, police said.

Police advise that if Dieringer is seen caution should be used, and he should not be approached – call 911.

The suspected homicide occurred about Sept. 1 at a home near 68^th Street and McDowell Road where police found Frank Quaranta dead “in a targeted attack.”

A welfare check call came into the Scottsdale Police Department at about 1:30 p.m. Sept. 1, when the victim did not report to work. Officers were unable to contact the victim any other way and forced entry inside the home, according to the release.

Quaranta was found dead, and detectives and crime scene specialists spent the next several hours processing the home for evidence.

Anyone with information is asked to call 480-312-TIPS or Silent Witness at 480-948-6377. If the Silent Witness tip information leads to an arrest or indictment in the case, a reward up to $1,000 will be available.
