Scottsdale PD receives over $200,000 in grant funding

Grant dollars to go toward additional programming and staff

Scottsdale Police Department was recently awarded a grant in the amount of $249,804 from the Department of Justice to further support the department’s DNA unit, which conducts the screening of physical evidence and the DNA analysis of biological evidence.

During the July 7 city council meeting, the mayor and council approved the acceptance of a 2021 DNA Capacity Enhancement and Backlog Reduction Program formula grant and the transfer from the city’s future grants budget.

According to a city report, the chief of police or another designee will oversee all negotiations and facilitate the acceptance of the grant money.
