The Scottsdale Police Department continues to meet the “gold standard” for operations as it was reaccredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies last month.
To achieve this reaccreditation, the department participated in an annual review of policies and practices and, over the course of four years, a review of 464 best practice standards, according to a press release. At the conclusion of the four-year process, the department hosts an external assessor who completes interviews and tours of Scottsdale Police facilities to evaluate the gold standard application of policies and practices in alignment with CALEA standards and then authors a final report for the commission to evaluate, the release said.
“The Scottsdale Police Department received initial accreditation with the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) in 1994, the same year that I started with the police department,” Scottsdale Police Chief Jeff Walthers said in a written statement to the Daily Independent. “Since that time, the department has continued to be at the forefront of professional policing by ensuring our policies and practices meet the gold standard of law enforcement, nationally and internationally.
